When she hears her long time crush- ex boy band star- bad boy Nolan Shaw is her co-star, she cannot believe in her luck! So he’s decided to branch out into wholesome Christmas movies for the Hope Channel (think Hallmark). This wasn't really fun, there was only some token forced humour (which wasn't funny), and the tension was flimsy at best considering how painfully oblivious the non-sex industry folks were to who was both starring and working on this movie. On set, Bee has to keep her Bianca-sized secret to herself (and some of the crew that know) which becomes harder when her co-star and former childhood crush Nolan Shaw recognises her.
But it's ridiculous in the same way that a time traveling ducal romance that teaches you the meaning of Christmas is. You did a great job of making me wonder how a HEA could possibly happen and then, when it did, of making it entirely believable and not as difficult as I thought it might be. I'm a huge fan of making playlists for every feeling, season and reason; I always say that music is like reading for the soul. The ending and the drama was just lackluster, since it was expected and foolish especially for two people TRYING TO BE SECRETIVE.So many thanks to NetGalley and Avon and Harper Voyager to make my entire week by sharing this amazing digital reviewer copy with me in exchange my honest thoughts. Nolan is a washed up former boy band member trying to clean up his act so he can earn enough money to support his family. He’s producing a movie for the pristine Hope Channel, a holiday movie that is being shot over Christmas. Bee shook her head, dropping her hand from my face so fast you’d think my jaw was made of exploding phone batteries.
Bee is to be as pure as the driven snow (she has a list of instructions, most of which can be boiled down to “no fucking”). Happily, her work at Uncle Ray Ray’s (the adult film production company) is not at all predatory and she has freedom to choose her work and keep her ClosedDoors account (and all the income that generates) without any threat from the owner, Teddy Ray Fletcher.
I'd definitely recommend for someone looking for a lighter, entertaining read, which is low on angst and high on fun chemistry. But when Bee’s favorite producer casts her to star in a Christmas movie he’s making for the squeaky-clean Hope Channel, Bee’s career is about to take a more family-friendly direction. There is to be no hint of Bianca Von Honey in Vermont and the Hope Channel and everyone else involved in the production (including the director) are not to know about her other career. A producer who is financing adult films having hard time to differentiate his alter Uncle Ray-Ray identity and his Teddy Fletcher- romcom producer act who finances sweet Hallmark-ish holiday movies.
This was the perfect balance of everything I love in a spicy romcom and everything i love about cheesy hallmark movies! An] inventive Cinderella retelling, Murphy cleverly blends the conventions of fairy tales and reality TV to create an incisive commentary on both…readers interested in a smart exploration of the intersection of romance and reality TV will be overjoyed. The hero is a curvy adult film star and the hero is a former boy band member trying to fix his reputation.She’s been featured in Buzzfeed, Cosmopolitan, Entertainment Weekly, Marie Claire, and Library Journal with a starred review. But knowing that she might be falling for someone else, that someone else might be making her light up with laughter and might be occupying her thoughts .
